Our client is a fast-growing FMCG platform backed by a large regional group, operating an asset-light trading and distribution model across Africa and other emerging markets. The business is focused on scaling through strong distributor networks and is now looking to accelerate its international growth agenda.
Role Overview
This is a high-impact leadership role with full ownership of international sales and marketing across multiple markets. You will be responsible for building and scaling the international business from the ground up, driving market entry, strengthening distributor networks, and delivering sustainable revenue and profitability growth. This is a mandate for someone who thrives in complex, high-growth environments and can combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and execute international market strategy across Africa and key global markets
- Identify, appoint, and manage high-performing distributors across multiple countries
- Drive market entry into new geographies while scaling existing markets
- Own pricing strategy, margins, trade spend, and overall commercial performance
- Lead brand strategy and trade marketing execution across international markets
- Build and lead international sales, export, and trade marketing teams
- Define and optimise route-to-market models across diverse and complex environments
- Establish performance frameworks, KPIs, and reporting discipline
- Align demand planning with supply chain and finance to support growth
- Drive distributor performance, accountability, and long-term partnerships
Your Profile
- 15+ years of FMCG experience with strong exposure to food categories
- Proven track record of building and expanding international markets, particularly across Africa
- Deep experience in distributor-led business models, including appointment, management, and optimisation
- Strong ownership of both sales and marketing, including trade spend and commercial planning
- Hands-on experience managing pricing, margins, and volume-driven businesses
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to build and scale high-performing teams
- Commercially driven, with a structured and execution-focused approach
