Our Client
A leading commodities manufacturing organization in the region is looking for an accomplished Associate Director – Quality Control & R&D to lead quality control, food safety, regulatory compliance, product development, and quality improvement across its manufacturing operations.
Role Overview
You will set the Quality Control and R&D direction across the business, with responsibility for strengthening product quality, regulatory compliance, testing standards, quality governance, and product development.
The mandate also covers innovation, formulation improvement, cost and process optimisation, continuous improvement, external quality engagement, and building strong quality capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Quality Control and R&D strategy, governance frameworks, policies, standards, and quality systems across manufacturing operations.
- Ensure raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet required quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory standards, including HACCP, ISO, and GMP requirements.
- Oversee testing, inspection, data analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective and preventive actions for quality deviations and non-conforming products.
- Lead product development, formulation improvement, and research initiatives focused on quality enhancement, cost optimisation, operational efficiency, and business growth.
- Drive continuous improvement with operations and production teams to improve product consistency, reduce waste, manage quality risks, and strengthen process efficiency.
- Maintain robust quality documentation, reporting, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance while representing the business in customer, regulatory, and external quality engagements.
- Lead and develop the QC team while partnering with production, maintenance, procurement, supply chain, commercial, and R&D functions to embed quality and HSE standards across the business.
Must-Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, with HACCP, ISO, or relevant quality certifications considered an advantage.
- 12+ years of experience within commodities manufacturing, food manufacturing or a related processing environment with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Strong experience across quality control, food safety, regulatory compliance, quality systems, testing, audits, and corrective action management.
- Demonstrated exposure to R&D, product development, formulation improvement, continuous improvement, and cost or process optimisation.
- Proven ability to lead quality teams and work cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, procurement, and technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting customer requirements, regulatory inspections, external audits, and market or business development activities from a quality perspective.
- Advanced Arabic and English communication capability.
