Our Client:
A rapidly expanding consumer business with a strong distribution footprint in Nigeria, focused on strengthening its logistics backbone to support scale, improve delivery reliability, and bring tighter cost control across operations.
Your Role:
You will take ownership of the logistics function at a national level, ensuring that goods move efficiently across the network while keeping costs, timelines, and service levels under control. This role goes beyond coordination, it requires someone who can build systems, challenge inefficiencies, and create a more structured and scalable logistics environment.
You will work closely with supply chain, finance, and operations teams to ensure logistics becomes a competitive advantage rather than just a support function.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end movement of goods across the distribution network, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
- Build a more structured and consistent approach to transportation planning and vendor management
- Strengthen relationships with transport partners while continuously improving cost and service terms
- Expand logistics capacity in line with business growth by onboarding and managing external partners
- Identify and secure warehousing solutions to support distribution requirements across locations
- Improve visibility across deliveries and strengthen tracking and documentation processes
- Analyze logistics spend and performance to identify gaps and drive corrective actions
- Work closely with finance to improve cost planning, reporting accuracy, and budget control
- Introduce standardized processes and ensure consistent execution across regions
- Drive improvements through technology, automation, and better data usage
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and maintain smooth coordination with external authorities
- Build and lead a strong logistics team with clear accountability and performance focus
Must Have:
- 10–15 years of experience in FMCG or logistics-heavy environments
- Strong background in managing large-scale transportation and distribution networks
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers and external vendors
- Proven ability to manage costs, negotiate contracts, and improve operational efficiency
- Exposure to ERP systems and logistics-related tools or platforms
- Experience in multi-location or regional operations
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical, execution-focused approach
