Your role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Manager to join our client in the dairy/ food business. As a Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective sustainability strategy that aligns with business goals and ensures that the farm/ production and corporate office are environmentally friendly and compliant with government rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy for the operations that includes a framework for measuring, tracking, and reporting on environmental impact and social responsibility. • Identify areas of opportunity for reducing the environmental impact of farm operations and implement changes to improve sustainability. • Monitor the dairy farm’s sustainability performance by analyzing and auditing operational activities (e.g., waste elimination, energy and water usage, greenhouse gas emissions). • Implement sustainable agricultural practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation. • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and standards and work with regulatory agencies to address any issues that arise. • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, regulatory agencies, and local communities, to promote sustainability initiatives and enhance our reputation as a responsible and sustainable dairy farm. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement sustainability projects that deliver a return on investment (ROI) and promote our brand equity. • Develop and implement a communications strategy that effectively communicates our sustainability initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders. • Conduct regular training and awareness sessions for employees and stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and practices. • Manage the dairy farm’s sustainability budget, including identifying areas for cost savings and efficiencies. • Stay up-to-date with sustainability trends and developments in the dairy industry, and develop strategies for adapting to changes and opportunities.
Must Have : Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, agriculture, or a related field. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sustainability role, with experience in a dairy farm preferred. • Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and environmental regulations. • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage budgets. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate sustainability initiatives to stakeholders at all levels. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify areas of opportunity for sustainability improvements and implement effective solutions. • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Ability to travel to dairy farm locations as needed.
